Its easy to say Connor McDavid will be the better NHL player, but lets take a closer look before just giving him the edge over Jack Eichel. After all everything in hockey is earned!
Most people think McDavid is the better player because of his 120 points in just 47 games compared to Eichel’s 71 points in 40 games. But Jack is playing against defenders up to 25 years of age that have developed into men already. Connor is playing against defenders only up to 20 years of age. Many people think well the OHL hockey players are better than the college and university players but now they aren’t that far apart. Eichel also played in the world championships and scored 7 points in 10 games against players like Yevgeni Malkin and Alexander Ovechkin who are both star status.
McDavid may have a better skill set but Eichel has a big long stride and has a couple of inches on McDavid. In the combine Eichel won the VO2max test duration with 12:15 and also the Right Hand Grip Strength (lbs) by scoring 170. While McDavid didn’t come first in any of the tests. After McDavid getting drafted first overall to Edmonton, Eichel has a chip on his shoulder and he said that he was the best player in the draft so not getting drafted first will make him want to be the better player now and that is why I think that Eichel will be better than McDavid.
